AIRPORT TALES is a light-hearted, entertaining, funny and above all human onstage “Road Movie” at 30,000 feet. The indomitable Evalina, journeying back to the old homestead to celebrate her 90th birthday, battles and conquers – security checks, seat-mate problems, lost luggage and a somewhat fraught family reunion.
This heart-warming play is Void Room Theatrics’ premiere production co-directed by Wilex Ly and Jhuntue Grey, the founders and Co-Artistic Producers of the company. Void Room Theatrics is a new collective founded in late 2015 that aims to support emerging theatrical artists and promote gender and race neutrality in their works. Airport Tales was the winner of Void Room’s playwriting contest, The Play Offs this past April. This competition featured staged selections from five new works with the audience voting on one play to be mounted as a full production.
Airport Tales will be featuring five artists at different stages of their careers, providing them with the opportunity to further their abilities and gain more experience in their field. This small but mighty cast is led by Judy Thrush as the relentless Evalina, alongside Dylan Evans, Margaret Rose, Jamie Johnson and Koichiro Goto.
The show will run approximately one hour with a short intermission. Join Evalina in her journey August 17th-21st, where home can be found in even the most unexpected places.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at brownpapertickets.com.
